Germany observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Various initiatives across Germany are scheduled to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. In Gießen, the Office for Women and Equality has organized an extensive program running from November 6 to December 15, 2026, aimed at raising awareness and fostering social engagement against sexism, racism, and gender-based violence.

A central community action will take place on November 25 at Berliner Platz in Gießen. In collaboration with organizations such as Amnesty International Gießen, the autonomous women's shelter, and the SkF e. V. Gießen domestic violence intervention center, the event will feature symbolic installations and speeches to honor victims of femicide and highlight the systemic nature of violence against women.

In Neukirchen-Vluyn, the local equality office and the association ‘Frauen helfen Frauen Moers e. V.’ will host a film screening on November 26 as part of the United Nations ‘Orange Days’ campaign. The event will use film to address the complexities of domestic violence and provide information on prevention and support services.
