Germany observes World Breastfeeding Week with local health initiatives
In observance of World Breastfeeding Week, various organizations in Germany are providing information and support services for parents. Under the theme ‘Breastfeeding. Your Superpower.’, nationwide activities are taking place from September 28 to October 4 to highlight the health benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and children.
In Regensburg, the Midwifery Care Coordination Office is hosting an information stand at the Landratsamt on September 30 to answer questions and distribute educational materials. Additionally, a free online breastfeeding preparation course will be offered that evening to assist expectant parents with topics such as latching techniques, milk production, and managing early challenges.
The Evangelisches Klinikum Bergisch Gladbach is also participating by utilizing its midwifery staff to educate new parents. The clinic is providing digital content via Instagram covering nutrition, bonding, and the composition of breast milk, alongside distributing physical information materials regarding the health advantages of breastfeeding.
