Germany: Petition launched to restore medical cannabis flower reimbursements

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Cannabis als Medizin (ACM) has launched a petition to the German Bundestag seeking the reversal of new regulations that ended cost reimbursements for medical cannabis flowers. According to the ACM, approximately 65,000 patients are affected by these changes, which came into effect on July 30, 2026, as part of statutory health insurance contribution stabilization measures.

Hanf.com is supporting the initiative by collecting signatures at its 15 retail locations across Germany. Wenzel Vaclav Cerveny, founder of Hanf.com and chairman of the Cannabis Bündnis Deutschland (CBD), stated that patient care should not be subordinated to short-term cost-saving logic. The petition, initiated by Dr. Franjo Grotenhermen, argues that switching patients to cannabis extracts is not an equivalent therapeutic alternative and that many patients can no longer afford necessary treatments privately.

Signature collection for the petition is scheduled to continue until October 30, 2026.
