Germany police detain five Bosnian citizens for suspected human smuggling

German police detained five citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the A93 motorway near Kiefersfelden following a vehicle stop. The individuals were found to be traveling with expired tolerance permits (Duldung) that had lapsed in April.

The vehicle, driven by a citizen of Montenegro, was found to be overcrowded, preventing one child from being properly secured with a seatbelt. Authorities seized approximately 1,500 euros from the car, which is suspected to be payment made to the driver for transport.

The Montenegrin driver, a resident of Schleswig-Holstein, faces a report for suspected human smuggling under dangerous circumstances. While he was released following initial police measures, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
