Germany police identify suspect in fatal A7 motorway accident

Police have identified a 57-year-old German man living in the United States as a potential suspect in a fatal traffic accident on the A7 motorway near Oy-Mittelberg. The individual is currently under investigation for negligent homicide.

The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon around 3:15 PM while traveling toward Würzburg. According to investigators, a vehicle changed from the right lane to the left lane to overtake another car, failing to notice a vehicle approaching at higher speed on the left lane. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the oncoming driver swerved left, causing his vehicle to veer off the road to the right and overturn. The 57-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries.

Authorities are seeking information regarding the vehicle involved in the lane change, which witnesses described as either a dark SUV or a silver station wagon equipped with a bicycle rack. The Kempten traffic police have requested that anyone with dashcam footage from the time of the incident contact them to assist in the investigation. An expert has been appointed by the Kempten Public Prosecutor's Office to clarify the exact circumstances of the crash.
