Germany police investigate needles found in Halloween candy
Police in several German regions are investigating reports of needles discovered in Halloween candy. In Lower Bavaria, authorities in Straubing, Deggendorf, and Passau received reports of pins found in chocolate bars and fruit candies. One incident in Hengersberg involved two children who found a pin while breaking open a chocolate bar, while a mother in Passau reported finding a needle and puncture marks on a candy wrapper.
In Baden-Württemberg, similar incidents have been reported in the districts of Esslingen, Enz, Rhein-Neckar, and Heilbronn. In Bad Rappenau, a family discovered two pins in chocolate bars after using a magnet to inspect the sweets.
Authorities are investigating the cases under suspicion of attempted dangerous bodily harm. Police have urged parents to carefully inspect all Halloween candy for damaged packaging or puncture marks before consumption and to report any suspicious items immediately.
