Germany prepares for competing pro-Israel and pro-Palestine demonstrations

Various demonstrations and commemorative events are scheduled across Germany, highlighting deep social and political divisions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In Stuttgart, the DIG Stuttgart is organizing a large-scale rally to mark the anniversary of the October 7 attacks. The event aims to express solidarity with Israel and combat antisemitism. The program includes speeches from various figures, including Holocaust survivor Eva Erben and Zera Institute founder Maral Salmassi, alongside musical performances and witness testimonies.

Simultaneously, a large pro-Palestine mass demonstration is planned in Düsseldorf, with approximately 5,000 participants expected. Organizers have used social media to mobilize supporters, including offering gender-segregated travel via an ‘Intifada-Bus’ from Berlin. The demonstration is expected to move from Friedrich-Ebert-Straße to Graf-Adolf-Platz. Additionally, a ‘Ride for Palestine’ is being organized to travel from Lille, France, through Belgium and Luxembourg, toward Meerbusch, near the Düsseldorf protest site.
