Germany promotes gender equality in STEM through Girls' Day and career initiatives

Efforts to increase female representation in STEM fields are being highlighted through various educational and career-oriented initiatives in Germany. On Girls' Day 2024, the IT company Materna hosted eighth-grade students in Dortmund, providing insights into software development, consulting, and cybersecurity. The event included practical workshops where students practiced coding and web design to demonstrate the diversity of careers in information technology.

In Bavaria, Minister for Women Ulrike Scharf emphasized the necessity of female talent in technical sectors during a panel discussion at the herCAREER Expo. Scharf advocated for equal participation in key technologies, politics, and leadership roles, aiming to dismantle outdated gender stereotypes. The herCAREER Expo, held in Munich, serves as a major platform for women's career advancement, featuring hundreds of exhibitors and programs designed to promote equality in the workforce.
