Germany reaches 200,000 public EV chargers as global rollout accelerates

Germany has surpassed 200,000 public electric‑vehicle charging points, reporting 200,255 stations as of 1 April 2026 – a 17 % rise year‑on‑year. The network includes more than 149,000 AC chargers, over 51,000 fast DC chargers and nearly 17,700 ultra‑fast units above 299 kW, delivering about 8.5 GW of power.

In Central and Eastern Europe, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development approved a €35 million loan for GreenWay to install 2,700 fast and ultra‑fast chargers in Poland, Slovakia and Croatia by 2028, part of a €113 million support package aimed at reducing charging shortages.

In Asia, Cambodia announced a minimum US$10 million investment to add over 170 fast‑charging stations nationwide, seeking to grow its electric‑vehicle fleet from 16,200 to 30,000 by 2030. Malaysia set a target of 10,000 public chargers in 2026, already exceeding that goal in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. India is leveraging its railway network, installing chargers at five major stations in the North‑Central zone to create hub points for travelers.

Vietnam’s V‑Green and Vietnam Post signed an agreement to deploy more than 16,000 electric‑motorbike battery‑swap units and 2,000 car‑charging spots across 13,000 post offices, expanding the country's green‑mobility infrastructure.
