Jütro Tiefkühlkost expands recall of frozen berries at Aldi, Lidl and Netto

German manufacturer Jütro Tiefkühlkost GmbH & Co. KG, based in Jessen, Sachsen‑Anhalt, has broadened its voluntary recall of frozen organic berry mixes after the possible presence of norovirus was detected. The recall now covers 300‑gram Bio‑Beerenmischungen sold under the private‑label brands of Aldi (Nord and Süd), Lidl and Netto Marken‑Discount. Affected batches carry best‑before dates from February to April 2028 and are identified by specific charge numbers listed by the company.

Consumers are advised not to eat the products because norovirus can cause acute vomiting and diarrhoea, with severe dehydration especially in infants, pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised patients. The recalled items can be returned to any store of the respective retailer for a full refund, even without a receipt. The recall, initially issued for Lidl’s Freshona berry mix, has now been extended nationwide in Germany.

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection notes that norovirus can spread via contaminated water, hands during harvest or processing, and that heating food to at least 85 °C inactivates the virus.
