Germany issues multiple food recalls: Aldi sausage and Go Asia products flagged for contamination

The German food‑safety authorities have ordered the withdrawal of several consumer products after laboratory tests revealed hazardous contaminants.

Aldi Süd is recalling three varieties of its Schinken‑Zwiebelmettwurst – “Vespermettwurst”, “Klassisch” and “Paprika” – because they were found to contain STEC/VTEC Shiga‑toxin‑producing Escherichia coli. The manufacturer, Willms Fleisch GmbH, advises consumers to return the affected 200 g packages sold in parts of North‑Rhine‑Westphalia, Bavaria, Hesse and Rhineland‑Palatinate and to seek medical advice if symptoms appear, especially among children, the elderly and immunocompromised patients.

In a separate action, the retailer Go Asia has pulled two different items from its shelves. Instant‑noodle packs (“KAILO Instantnudeln Hühnchen Schüssel”, 120 g) were recalled after a batch tested positive for glycidyl‑fatty‑acid esters, chemicals classified as genotoxic and potentially carcinogenic. The recall covers stores in most German states, excluding Bremen, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern. Additionally, frozen oysters (“Surasang Frozen Oysters”, 226 g) were withdrawn after noroviruses were detected, prompting a nationwide recall across twelve federal states. Consumers are instructed to return the products for a full refund and to avoid consumption.

Both recalls underline the emphasis on traceability and rapid market removal to protect public health.
