Germany recalls Wulff raw sausages after EHEC contamination detected

The district authority of Göttingen (Landkreis Göttingen) has ordered a recall of several raw sausage products produced by Fleischwaren Wulff GmbH & Co. KG after batches were found to contain Shiga toxin‑producing Escherichia coli (STEC/EHEC). The recalled items include various ham‑streak and onion‑based mettwurst, deli‑style sausages, beer‑knackers and frozen variants, identified by specific charge numbers.

Consumers are advised not to eat the affected products. Ingestion can cause diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and, in severe cases, bloody stools or acute kidney failure (haemolytic‑uremic syndrome), especially in infants, young children, the elderly and immunocompromised persons. Anyone experiencing serious or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention and inform healthcare providers about possible EHEC exposure.
