Germany regional programs offer support for elderly independence
Various regional initiatives in Germany are providing support and guidance for elderly citizens to maintain independence.
In Mettmann, the Betreuungsverein der Diakonie is hosting a free information session on October 13. The event, titled ‘Possibilities for improving the living environment during care’, will feature Oliver Pahl from the city's care and housing advisory service. Discussions will cover modifications ranging from simple furniture rearrangement to major installations like stairlifts or bathroom renovations, as well as financing options.
In the Wartburgkreis region, the AGATHE program (‘Aging in Community’) has expanded its presence to four social areas: Bad Salzungen, Treffurt/Hainich-Werratal, Eisenach, and Ruhla/Thal/Seebach. The program offers localized counseling and orientation to help elderly individuals, particularly those living alone, find social connections and support services within their communities.
