Germany reports continued decline in workplace accidents
Reported figures from the German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV) show a continued decline in reportable workplace accidents in Germany. In 2025, there were 730,598 registered accidents, approximately 24,000 fewer than in 2024.
Fatal workplace accidents also reached a three-year low, dropping to 335 cases in 2025. While most accident categories showed improvement, commuting-related accidents saw a slight increase of nearly 1%, totaling 175,140 cases.
Industry experts from Alpha-Tex Arbeitsschutz GmbH suggest that investments in prevention and personal protective equipment (PPE) are contributing to this downward trend. However, safety concerns remain, with 53% of employees identifying tripping, slipping, and falling as the primary risks in their work environments.
