Germany reports first ice wine harvest failure amid climate concerns
Germany has experienced its first failed ice wine harvest due to an unusually warm winter. Temperatures did not drop to the required -7C necessary to harvest and press the frozen grapes. Experts suggest that German ice wine, which already represents less than 0.1 per cent of the total harvest, may become increasingly rare as climate change threatens up to 85 per cent of vineyards.
In Wales, First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth faced criticism from opposition leaders regarding Welsh independence. Following his attendance at a YesCymru rally, leaders from Reform UK and the Welsh Conservatives questioned his focus on the constitutional future of Wales. Conservative leader Darren Millar criticized the focus on independence as “constitutional navel-gazing,” while the First Minister maintained that the future of Wales is a matter for its people and not for foreign entities to influence.
