On the A57 near Neuss, a 39‑year‑old truck driver failed to stop in time behind a slowing Honda, striking the car and then a second truck. The car driver sustained serious injuries, while the truck drivers suffered light injuries and shock. The crash forced a lane closure that lasted into the afternoon.

On the Autobahn 66 near Hanau, a Passat driver attempting to overtake a Mini collided with an oncoming Audi A6 at high speed, causing the Passat to hit a safety barrier before striking the Mini. The Audi driver suffered minor bruises; the other occupants were unharmed. The incident caused about €85,000 in vehicle damage and the road was fully closed for roughly 30 minutes while debris was cleared.
