Germany reports no findings on unidentified aerial phenomena
The German federal government has stated it has no findings regarding unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and lacks a dedicated reporting channel for such observations. In a response to an inquiry from the AfD parliamentary group, the government clarified that pilots and air-traffic controllers do not have a specific mechanism for reporting unidentified sightings.
Responsibility for surveillance is divided among several ministries. The Interior, Transport, and Defense ministries manage the surveillance of German airspace, while the ministries responsible for research, technology, space, and Defense are tasked with recording and assessing objects in near-Earth space. No single agency has been designated to manage all UAP-related reports.
This response follows previous inquiries from other political groups, including the CDU, Greens, and FDP. Regarding the European Union, the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space previously noted that UAPs fall under the jurisdiction of individual member states, allowing them to address such phenomena according to national security requirements.
