Germany reports record number of Islamist-linked antisemitic offenses

The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has recorded a record 670 antisemitic offenses with an Islamist background in 2025. This represents an approximate six percent increase from the 631 cases reported in 2024.

A special government evaluation indicates a sharp rise in these incidents following the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023. Between October 7 and the end of 2023, authorities recorded 331 cases, which was ten times the number of offenses registered during the first nine months of that year.

The offenses range from insults, property damage, and glorification of terrorism to serious violent crimes, including attempted homicide. According to the BKA, nearly half of the perpetrators displayed symbols of banned organizations, such as Hezbollah and the Islamic State.

Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, described the security situation for Jewish people as being at an “unbearable level.” In response, the German federal government plans to strengthen countermeasures, with a new advisory group for Islamism prevention expected to provide recommendations at the turn of the year.
