Germany reports surge in burglaries across Thuringia and Bavaria

Police in Nordhausen, Thuringia, investigated a series of break‑ins at small garden plots in Salza, Schurzfell and Am Holungsbügel over the past weekend. The thieves forced entry, causing damage estimated in the low four‑figure range and stealing low‑value items such as tools, food and spirits worth well under €1,000. Authorities have asked the public for information to aid the investigation. In Sulzbach‑Rosenberg, Bavaria, residents reported multiple burglaries on 3 June 2026. A suspect first broke into a tavern, stealing two cigarette sticks, then entered the nearby parish office, causing about €800 in damage without taking any items. Later that morning the same individual forced entry into a private house, taking €2,000 in cash and inflicting €4,500 in property damage. Police have secured evidence and appealed for witnesses to contact them.
