Germany's citizenship revocations raise concerns over immigrant rights

Abdallah A., a stateless Palestinian born in Lebanon who moved to Berlin as an infant, obtained German citizenship in September 2025. Two months later the Landesamt für Einwanderung revoked his passport, citing two Instagram stories that displayed Hamas‑related images. Authorities labelled him a "sympathiser of the terror organisation Hamas," prompting a debate over whether naturalised citizens enjoy the same freedom of expression as native‑born Germans.
