Germany security demand reaches record high in 2026 study
The Security Monitor 2026 study, presented by VDMA Fachverband Sicherheitssysteme, VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH, and Messe Essen, reveals that the demand for security in Germany has reached a record high. Approximately 78% of Germans report a strong need for security, up from 73% in 2024 and 77% in 2025.
Physical burglaries pose a significant threat to businesses. The study found that 45% of surveyed companies experienced at least one physical break-in over the past two years, a four-percentage-point increase from the previous year. Additionally, 42% of companies rate the risk of physical burglary as high.
Prof. Dr. Frank Janser, Chairman of the VDMA Security Systems Association, emphasized that corporate security must address both physical and digital risks, noting that physical theft remains a substantial threat alongside cyber risks.
