Germany sees highest migration to Poland since pandemic
According to data from the Federal Statistical Office cited by Handelsblatt, migration from Germany to Poland reached its highest level since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2025. Approximately 4,941 Germans emigrated to Poland last year, a figure surpassing those moving to the United Kingdom, Italy, or Spain.
While 1,720 Germans returned to Poland, the net migration balance remains negative. Migrants cited several factors for the shift, including a more optimistic economic atmosphere, lower taxes, better digitalization, and reduced bureaucracy compared to Germany. Some residents noted the efficiency of public infrastructure, such as punctual trains, as a positive aspect of living in Poland.
