Germany sees improved childhood coordination through movement programs

New movement and coordination initiatives in Germany are showing measurable success in early childhood development and community health. In Krefeld, the proportion of children identified with coordination problems during school entry examinations dropped from 13.9 percent to 7.8 percent, reflecting a shift toward age- and need-oriented movement formats.

In the Rhein-Kreis Neuss region, the EBK Neuss organized a ‘Kita Aktivtag’ in collaboration with the Sportbund Rhein-Kreis Neuss. The event involved approximately 135 children and 30 educators, focusing on integrating physical activity into early childhood education. The program also served as a practical training ground for social pedagogy students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

Beyond early childhood, there is an increasing emphasis on systematic health promotion through various sectors. This includes new rehabilitation sports groups, such as one launched by VSK Osterholz-Scharmbeck for individuals with mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, as well as certified prevention courses and specialized formats for seniors.
