Germany sees rise in apartment burglaries to 82,920 in 2025
The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) recorded 82,920 residential burglaries in Germany for 2025, a 5.7 % increase over the previous year. Overall, only 14.1 % of cases were solved, while 44.9 % of attempts were thwarted by security measures.
Berlin reported the sharpest rise, with 10,618 cases – up 24 % year‑on‑year. In contrast, Cologne saw the largest decline at 21.7 %, and Hamburg fell 5.7 %. The data underline the effectiveness of modern alarm systems, as noted by Metin Mercan, founder of alarmanlagen24.net: “Wer nach Einbruchschutz sucht, trifft zu oft auf Angstmache und Abo‑Modelle… fast jeder zweite Einbruch scheitert bereits an guter Sicherungstechnik.”
