Germany sees rising DAB+ digital radio adoption
Digital radio adoption in Germany continues to rise, according to the 2026 Audio Trends media analysis. DAB+ usage has reached approximately 35.6% to 39% of the population aged 14 and older, representing about 25 million listeners. This marks an increase from previous years, with DAB+ currently outpacing web radio in popularity.
Technical integration is also growing, with 41% of households now possessing at least one DAB+ device. Access to DAB+ in vehicles has risen to 28% of the population. Regional data shows high adoption rates in Bavaria, where 47% of households have a DAB+ radio, followed by Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Saxony.
While DAB+ leads, web radio remains a significant medium, reaching 17 million people within a four-week period. Overall, the net digitalization rate for radio listeners—those using either DAB+ or web radio—stands at 78%.
