Germany sees rising employment rates among various education levels
Data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) shows that employment rates for individuals with different levels of educational attainment in Germany have converged over the last decade.
Between 2015 and 2025, the employment rate for people aged 25 to 64 with medium-level qualifications rose from 80 percent to 83 percent. During the same period, the rate for those with high-level qualifications remained steady at 88 percent, reducing the gap between medium and high qualification levels from 8 to 5 percentage points.
Employment rates for individuals with low educational qualifications also saw an increase, rising from 59 percent in 2015 to 63 percent in 2025. While this remains a lower level overall, it exceeds the OECD average of 60 percent. Germany's employment rate for those with medium qualifications (83 percent) is also significantly higher than the OECD average of 78 percent.
