Germany sees surge in Autogas vehicle registrations

Autogas-powered passenger car registrations in Germany are experiencing a significant upward trend in 2026. According to data from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA), a total of 8,349 LPG-powered vehicles were newly registered between January and July 2026.

This growth marks a reversal from 2025, when registrations fell by 11.9 percent compared to 2024. Since April 2026, monthly registration figures have consistently exceeded the levels of the previous year. Notably, July 2026 saw 1,705 new registrations, representing a 59.2 percent increase compared to July 2025.

The monthly breakdown for 2026 shows rapid acceleration: starting with 280 registrations in January, the numbers rose to 1,015 in March, peaked at 2,121 in June, and remained strong with 1,705 in July. This momentum suggests that Autogas maintains a stable position within the German automotive propulsion mix.
