Germany strengthens cooperation with Honduras on climate and food security

Germany is strengthening its cooperation with Honduras through initiatives focused on climate change mitigation, food security, and sustainable production. German Ambassador Daniela Vogl highlighted the close bilateral relationship, emphasizing projects that involve direct community participation.

A significant milestone was reached with the inauguration of a flood mitigation project in the Miramesí colony along the Choluteca River. Developed with an investment of 103 million lempiras, the project aims to protect residents from rising river levels and heavy rains. Similar mitigation works have been implemented in the Los Jucos colony and the Japón neighborhood to prevent flooding.

Beyond infrastructure, the cooperation agenda includes community training, food security efforts in the Dry Corridor, and sustainable production within the coffee sector.
