Germany survey examines role of money in dating
A representative online survey conducted by Lotto24 involving 2,027 participants in Germany has examined the influence of money on romantic relationships and dating. The findings indicate that a large majority of Germans would keep a multi-million euro lottery win secret when first meeting a date. Specifically, 58 percent would only disclose such winnings once in a committed relationship, while 19.4 percent stated they would never mention it of their own accord.
Regarding the general role of finances, 30.9 percent of respondents considered money to be ‘very important’ or ‘rather important’ in partner searching. This sentiment was more pronounced among women at 38 percent, compared to 25.6 percent of men. Conversely, 39.5 percent of men reported that financial status was not important to them, whereas only 18 percent of women shared this view.
Despite the importance of financial stability, the survey found that lottery winnings do not significantly increase perceived attractiveness. Approximately 70.9 percent of those surveyed believe a win has no impact on a person's attractiveness, with only 8.8 percent suggesting it makes a person more attractive.
