Germany to host 2026 Flag Football World Championship and 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship
The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) has published the schedule for the 2026 Flag Football World Championships, which will be held in Düsseldorf. The tournament serves as a key milestone on the road to the sport’s Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028, bringing men’s and women’s national teams from around the world to Germany and providing a platform to boost participation and visibility of flag football domestically.
For the 2027 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, the German Ice Hockey Federation confirmed that SAP Arena will manage ticket sales for the event, which will take place in Mannheim and Düsseldorf from 14 to 30 May 2027. The championship will feature 64 games across 17 days, with an expected attendance of more than 500,000 spectators. The selection of SAP Arena follows a competitive tender process and includes full technical and service provision for ticket distribution.
Both events are positioned as major draws for international fans and are expected to generate significant economic and promotional benefits for the host cities and for German sport overall.
