Germany to host major basketball championships in 2026

Germany is set to host two major basketball events in 2026. The Women's Basketball World Championship will take place in Berlin from September 4 to September 13, 2026. The tournament will feature 16 teams competing across two venues: the Max-Schmeling-Halle, which holds up to 11,900 spectators, and the Berlin Arena, which accommodates 17,000 fans. The German women's team is scheduled to compete in Group A against Japan, Spain, and Mali.

Additionally, Bad Vilbel will host the ING 3x3 U18 German Championship for the first time from August 28 to August 30, 2026. This event marks the first time the U18 championship will be held as a standalone format separate from the senior championships. Sixteen qualified teams will compete on two courts set up at Niddaplatz.
