Germany to participate in Koalicja 2026 military exercise

The German Bundeswehr will participate in the first military exercise of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ this November. The maneuver, named ‘Koalicja 2026’, aims to test the operational readiness of a multinational force being built under the leadership of France and the United Kingdom to secure a possible ceasefire with Russia.

Germany’s contribution includes approximately ten staff officers, logistical support for troop movements through German territory, and up to two A400M transport aircraft to provide aerial refueling. These aircraft are expected to operate from Germany. The exercise is scheduled to take place in Poland, Romanian airspace, and the western Black Sea.

The coalition currently consists of approximately 35 states. The formation of this multinational force was originally decided during a Ukraine summit held in Berlin in December 2025.
