Germany traffic data shows men commit 3.4 times more speeding offenses than women

Data from the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) for 2025 reveals a significant gender disparity in traffic violations in Germany. Men accounted for approximately 1.92 million speeding offenses, while women recorded nearly 566,000, resulting in a ratio of roughly 3.4 to 1.

Speeding was the most frequent registered offense for both genders. Out of nearly 4 million total registered offenses in the driving suitability register, speeding was the largest category. Other notable violations included 384,564 instances of mobile device usage, 322,694 red light violations, and 29,856 alcohol-related offenses.

Total traffic violations recorded in 2025 were 3,223,322 for men and 982,650 for women. Analysts note that these figures do not necessarily mean an individual man is 3.4 times more likely to speed than a woman, as the statistics do not account for variables such as annual mileage, professional vehicle use, or the total number of active drivers.
