Germany trial begins for attempted murder of snack bar owner

A trial has commenced against three young men—aged 19, 20, and 22—accused of attempting to murder a snack bar owner in January. Prosecutors allege the group traveled from Munich to the Göppingen area, where the 19-year-old allegedly fired a shot at the shop owner that missed. The defendants face charges of attempted murder as accomplices.

The case is linked to a separate investigation involving a 38-year-old suspected contract killer. Authorities claim the man agreed in February to carry out a drive-by shooting using an automatic assault rifle and a semi-automatic weapon. However, the suspect was intercepted after his driver crashed into a guardrail on the A6 motorway while attempting to evade police. The 38-year-old remains in custody facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
