Germany weighs THG quota extension as Bundestag debates reform

In Berlin, the Bundesverband der deutschen Bioethanolwirtschaft (BDBe) welcomed a Bundestag agreement on advancing the THG-Quote, including a continuation beyond 2030 and a higher ceiling on credits for biofuels from arable biomass. The industry argues the move signals stronger climate protection in transport, provides investment security, and strengthens domestic value chains.

The Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) criticized the bill sharply, calling the THG-Quote reform climate-policy and socially irresponsible while noting the draft was up for adoption in the Bundestag at the time.
