Germany wins bronze medal at Chess Olympiad
The German national chess team has won a bronze medal at the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This marks the first medal for the German team in 26 years, following their silver medal win in Istanbul in 2000.
Germany secured third place after a decisive 2.5:1.5 victory against the Netherlands in the final round. Key performances included a win by Matthias Blübaum against Jorden van Foreest, while Vincent Keymer and brothers Frederik and Rasmus Svane each secured draws. Frederik Svane noted the high pressure of the final match, stating, “If I lose, everything would have been over.”
