Germany women's national team squad announced for upcoming tests

Germany's women's national football team head coach Christian Wück has announced a 24-player squad for upcoming home test matches against Australia in Karlsruhe on October 9 and Japan in Bremen on October 13.

Captain Giulia Gwinn returns to the squad following a shoulder operation. However, starting goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger will take a break from the matches in agreement with the coaching staff. The squad features a record presence of six players from the English Women’s Super League, including 19-year-old newcomer Lisa Baum.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Laura Freigang has also been included despite an ongoing disciplinary proceeding regarding missed anti-doping tests. DFB Women's Football Director Nia Künzer confirmed Freigang is eligible to play, noting her strong recent performances. The matches serve as a high-level test ahead of the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
