The German women’s volleyball team recorded its first defeat of the season in the Volleyball Nations League, falling 2‑3 to Ukraine in Quebec, Canada. After taking an early lead, Germany surrendered the match in the tiebreak, with set scores of 21‑25, 28‑30, 25‑14, 25‑19 and 13‑15. Leana Grozer led Germany with 22 points while Emilia Weske contributed 21. Coach Giulio Bregoli said the team could have turned the match if they had secured the second set.
The loss follows a 3‑1 victory over host Canada in the opening weekend. Germany’s next fixtures in the league will be against Japan and the United States. The men’s German squad is set to begin its Nations League campaign the following week.
