Germany women's wheelchair basketball team loses to China

The German women's wheelchair basketball team has been relegated to playing for 7th place at the World Championship in Ottawa following a significant loss to China.

During the placement round match held at Carleton University, China established early dominance with a 9:0 lead. Although Germany managed to narrow the gap to 12:15 by the end of the first quarter, China regained control in the second quarter, leading 38:18 at halftime. Despite a brief 6:0 run by Germany in the third quarter, China maintained their lead, eventually winning the match with a final score of 49:33.

Xuemei Zhang led the scoring for China with 33 points, while Lisa Bergenthal scored 17 points for Germany. The German team's performance was hindered by offensive inconsistency and defensive struggles against China's speed. Germany will face Japan in their final championship match.
