North Rhine-Westphalia sees major highway closure, roadworks and new Cologne‑Bonn‑Sivas flight
The A4 motorway at the Cologne‑Eifeltor interchange has been fully closed to traffic, creating traffic jams of up to 20 km on the nearby A1 and other routes from 13 July. The closure is expected to remain until Thursday, with a weight limit for trucks under 44 t lifted on that day.
In the town of Wiehl, three roundabouts on the L336 and L350 are being resurfaced. The works require full closures of the sections between the roundabouts during and after the summer holidays, with detours set up for pedestrians and cyclists and a temporary one‑way traffic arrangement on the L336 toward Denklingen.
Cologne/Bonn Airport has launched a weekly direct flight to Sivas in central Turkey, operated by AJet, a low‑cost carrier within the Turkish Airlines group. The flight departs every Wednesday, lasts about four hours, and is the only German direct service to Sivas, with tickets starting at €72.
