Germany's AZUWA Program Boosts Apprenticeship Marketing for SMEs

The AZUWA programme, launched four months ago as part of the nationwide JOBvision initiative, has completed its first round aimed at modernising apprenticeship marketing for German small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs). Participants from a broad range of sectors—including painting, roller‑shutter manufacturing, chemical coatings, HVAC and electrical trades—took part in more than 20 workshops, seminars, roundtables, school visits and networking events. The programme offered practical support on employer attractiveness, youth outreach, tailored social‑media videos and best‑practice examples, alongside individual coaching.

Companies reported visible changes in their daily operations: they have introduced concrete measures, especially in social‑media communication, resulting in more creative, authentic and targeted recruitment of apprentices. The intensive exchange among participants fostered idea development and the sharing of solutions, which many firms have already implemented in a sustainable way.
