Germany's constitutional court faces potential AfD ban after expert report

German politicians from the CDU, SPD, Greens and Left have called for a swift start to any ban proceedings, noting that a ban can be initiated by the Bundestag, Bundesrat or the federal government and is decided by the Constitutional Court, a process that could take years. Polls show the AfD currently at about 27 % of the vote, ahead of other parties. The report has reignited debate over whether the party should be prohibited for violating constitutional order.
