The nationwide Deutschlandticket, priced at €63 per month from January 2026, grants unlimited travel on regional trains and buses throughout Germany. The fare structure also applies to selected cross‑border routes, allowing passengers to reach towns in Denmark (e.g., Tønder), France (Wissembourg, Lauterbourg), the Netherlands (Arnhem, Venlo, Hengelo, Enschede) and Austria (Vils) without purchasing a separate ticket, subject to specific local regulations.

Pensioners with low incomes can access reduced fares through social‑ticket schemes. When beneficiaries receive benefits such as basic security, housing allowance or other social aid, the ticket price may drop to around €27‑30 per month, with some regional programmes offering a €53 version. Eligibility depends on the receipt of qualifying social benefits and varies by municipality.
