Germany's FDP polls rise to 5% as party seeks comeback

A new Insa poll shows the Free Democratic Party (FDP) at 5% support, the first time it has reached the five‑percent threshold since the February 2025 federal election. The Allensbach Institute reports an even higher 5.5% figure. After falling to 4.3% in the 2023 election and exiting the Bundestag, the FDP is now close to regaining parliamentary representation. Party chairman Wolfgang Kubicki, 74, says the party could eventually capture 25‑30% of the vote if it returns to “economic reason, protection of civil rights and a clear, jargon‑free message.”

At the same time, the FDP’s local summer “Stammtisch” in Haar, near Munich, gathered members and citizens for a public debate on democratic cohesion. Local chair and city councilor Dr. Peter Siemsen highlighted the value of face‑to‑face discussion in countering polarization, underscoring the party’s grassroots effort to revive its political relevance.
