Germany's 'Immer wieder sonntags' TV Show Ends After 31 Years

The long‑running music and entertainment program "Immer wieder sonntags", broadcast on ARD’s Erste channel and filmed live from Europa‑Park in Rust, will conclude with its 31st season in 2026. Hosted by Stefan Mross, the season comprises 13 live episodes running from 31 May to 6 September, followed by a best‑of special on 13 September. SWR program director Clemens Bratzler said the decision stems from insufficient budget to continue the show beyond 2026.

Schlager star Christian Franke warned that the cancellation removes a key platform for artists outside the mainstream Saturday shows. He called the loss “very, very bitter” and noted that emerging singers now must rely on social‑media reach rather than traditional TV exposure.

The final broadcast marks the end of a fixture that has provided nationwide exposure for established and new German schlager and folk‑music performers.
