Germany's Pension Appeals Success Rate 36% and Only 0.1% Earn Over €3,000
According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV), nearly 322,000 pension‑related appeals were processed in 2025, with an overall success rate of 35.8%. The highest success was in the rehabilitation sector (about 48% of 119,000 cases), while appeals concerning pension amounts succeeded at 27.4% of more than 166,000 cases.
DR V data also show that only a tiny fraction of German retirees receive a pension above €3,000 a month. Out of roughly 18.7 million pensioners, just 18,273 – about 0.1% – achieve that level, equating to roughly 40‑50 people per 100,000 retirees. Women are especially under‑represented, with almost none reaching the €3,000 threshold. The average statutory pension after 45 years of contributions remains around €1,600‑€1,700, highlighting a large gap between typical benefits and the top‑end pension.
