Germany's Queer Commissioner calls for increased protections against rising hate

Reports from recent events, such as the CSD in Bremen, illustrate the gap between visibility and safety. While large-scale demonstrations are often protected by heavy police presence, participants report facing intimidation, physical threats, and harassment in public spaces like restaurants and transit hubs after the events conclude. These incidents often involve confrontations linked to political affiliations and visible gender identities.
