Deutsche Bahn expands Germany Ticket and Family Pass for cross‑border travel

The 58‑euro Deutschlandticket, originally designed for unlimited travel within Germany, is also accepted on several regional cross‑border services. Passengers can reach nearby destinations such as Salzburg in Austria, towns in France’s Alsace region, Schaffhausen in Switzerland, Venlo and Enschede in the Netherlands, and Tønder in Denmark without buying additional tickets, making spontaneous summer day‑trips possible.

A new DB‑Familienticket priced at 99.99 €, available for bookings from 14 June to 12 September 2026, allows up to five travellers (maximum two adults and up to four children aged 6‑14) to travel round‑trip on long‑distance ICE, IC and EC trains across Germany. The ticket includes seat reservations and is valid for travel between 26 June and 14 September 2026, covering the Bavarian summer holidays. It is intended for large families, grandparents travelling with grandchildren, and long‑distance journeys where the cost of car fuel and parking would exceed the ticket price.
