Classical Music Festivals in Germany and Switzerland, Summer 2026

A series of classical music events are scheduled across Germany and Switzerland this summer. In Großrudestedt, Germany, the historic Walcker organ (1907) in St. Albanus Church will be played by a duo using four hands and four feet for the first time, with the performance projected onto a large screen. The free concert, presented by organists Iris and Carsten Lenz, includes works by Handel, Bach, Mozart, Strauss and others.

Organist Charles Maxtone‑Smith, formerly of Buckfast Abbey in England, will perform at Himmerod Abbey in Germany. His program, themed “From Abbey to Abbey,” focuses on Gregorian motifs and features pieces by Karg‑Elert, Alain, Heiller, Dupré and Tournemire. Admission is also free.

In Klosters, Switzerland, the eighth edition of the Klosters Music festival will run for ten days, showcasing leading classical artists. Highlights include Mozart’s D‑minor piano concerto, Beethoven’s “Fate” Symphony, Bach’s Goldberg Variations, and performances by the Camerata Salzburg, Sir András, baritone Sir Bryn Terfel and others under the festival’s “Icons” theme.
