Germany's solar industry fuels billions in economic benefit and unveils smart home‑energy service
The German Solar Industry Association (BSW‑Solar) reported that roughly six million solar installations generated about 390 billion kWh of electricity between 2020 and 2025. During that period the sector replaced around €20 billion of fossil‑fuel imports and avoided climate‑damage costs estimated at up to €250 billion, while the wider solar and storage market employed about 120 000 people and generated roughly €30 billion in annual revenue. According to the Environment Agency, the use of solar power in Germany over the past two decades prevented about 500 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalents, with more than half of that reduction occurring between 2020 and 2025.
In parallel, E.ON Germany and battery specialist E3/DC announced a partnership to launch the “E.ON Home Comfort” service, integrated with E3/DC’s all‑in‑one “Hauskraftwerk” storage system. Starting in 2027, customers will receive a fixed‑price electricity tariff, flexibility bonuses and a one‑time €120 incentive, enabling smarter use of solar generation, electric‑vehicle charging and heat‑pump operation while shielding them from volatile market prices.
